US company Crocetti's Oakdale Packing Co has recalled more than 1,000 lbs of beef patties after reports that more than 20 children were suffering from E.coli.

The firm, trading as South Shore Meats, recalled approximately 1,039 pounds of fresh ground beef patties derived from bench trim as well as mechanically tenderized beef cuts that may be contaminated after the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) confirmed a positive sample for E. coli O157:H7.

The children are believed to have been sickened during a field trip earlier this month.
